Our department of Urology (East Kent Urology) is one of the largest in the United Kingdom and is a dedicated unit providing leading edge clinical care, education, research and innovation. The department is rapidly evolving in its delivery of world-class care.
Our team includes 10 consultant urologists, 4 uro-oncologists, 5 uro-radiologists, 5 uro-pathologists and 10 scientists. We have a strong team of specialist nurses covering all major urological subspecialties including uro-oncology, stone disease, functional urology, andrology, continence and palliative care medicine. We also have a robust enhanced recovery platform.
The unit offers education and training for medical students, foundation doctors, higher surgical trainees, fellowships in robotic surgery, uro-oncology, stone disease, simulation and artificial intelligence. The Department works closely with the School of Biosciences, University of Kent and does translational collaborative work with several centres of excellence including The University of Oxford and The Royal Marsden Hospital.
Our Robotic Urological Centre is a high volume centre of excellence and one of only five centres in the UK to be recognised by The Urology Foundation. Additionally, it is one of a few in the UK that is recognised by ERUS (European Robotic Urological Section) and BAUS (British Association of Urological Surgeons) as a Fellowship Training Centre.
Our patient-centred, research-oriented, multidisciplinary approach enables us to offer the best possible individualised bespoke care to each of our patients.
