Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR)
East Kent Hospitals needs to be prepared for a range of emergencies and incidents.
We must plan for and respond to incidents, across our five hospital sites, that may affect:
health
patient care
operations of the Trust.
Examples of incidents we need to be prepared for include:
extreme weather
outbreak of an infectious disease
major transport incidents.
The Civil Contingencies Act (2004) requires NHS organisations to show they can deal with incidents, and maintain critical services.
Our Accountable Emergency Officer makes sure that the Trust is well prepared to respond to all types of incidents. They report how prepared we are to the Trust Board.
The Trust has an Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response team. The team work with our health and emergency services colleagues to be ready for all types of emergencies and major incidents. They help us plan for, exercise, and respond to incidents across east Kent.
