Family First Scheme

Are you wanting a consultant role with us? We’ve launched our Family First scheme to make it easier for you to relocate to east Kent.

We pledge to find roles for partners of consultants offered a substantive post at our Trust. 

We know that the decision to take up an opportunity and relocate to an area is a big step and you need to consider employment opportunities for your partner when applying. We hope supporting you in this way demonstrates our commitment as a family-friendly, accommodating, flexible and supportive Trust.

The small print

• The pilot scheme is open to partners of applicants for a substantive consultant post at the Trust. At present, this is not available for non-consultant grade appointments

• Family members would be expected to be able to demonstrate the minimum criteria in the job specification for a role in order to be able to request the “family first” scheme. However, in order to ensure our responsibilities for equal opportunities are met, where a vacancy is not available, the post they apply for would be on a supernumerary basis and via a fixed term appointment.  During that period of time the individual would be supported to apply for vacancies and seek a substantive role via a competitive recruitment process

• The scheme will initially run as a pilot, with a review within six to nine months

• The application of this scheme will be on a case by case basis.
