Access and staffed hours

All three of our Education Libraries are open and staffed from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Please note that we are not staffed at weekends or Bank Holidays.

Outside of these hours we offer 24-hour access so that you can work and study in the evenings and at weekends. There are variations at each site regarding 24-hour access and door-unlocking times, as follows:

Canterbury door times

• Education Centre doors: unlock at 7am and lock at 5pm on weekdays

• Education Library doors: unlock at 7am and lock at 6pm on weekdays

• At all other times you will need a programmed SmartCard to gain access.

Ashford door times

• Education Centre doors: unlock at 6am and lock at 5pm on weekdays

• Education Library doors: these also unlock at 7am and lock at 6pm on weekdays

• At all other times you will need a programmed SmartCard or keyfob to gain access.

Margate door times

• Education Library doors: unlock at 8am and lock at 5pm on weekdays

• At all other times you will need a programmed SmartCard or keyfob to gain access.

Wheelchair access

All three Education Libraries are accessible via wheelchair, as follows:

Canterbury

• The library is on the ground floor of the Education Centre, with no steps or obstructions throughout.

Ashford

• The library is on the first floor, directly above the main entrance

• Wheelchair users will need to take the lift up one floor and through the Cardiac Catheter Suite to get through to the Education Centre.

Margate

• The library is accessed to the rear of the main hospital restaurant

• There is a ramp down to the library, as well as a wheelchair lift to enable access to the quiet study space.
