CCTV and body worn cameras
We use CCTV and body worn cameras (BWC) to ensure the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors.
CCTV Cameras
CCTV cameras are in use in non-clinical areas such as entrances, car parks, and hospital grounds. The cameras operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The cameras are monitored from our security control room. All cameras are positioned responsibly with no hidden cameras in public spaces.
Most of our CCTV cameras are static, but some are capable of panning, tilting, and zooming.
Body Worn Cameras (BWC)
Some of our Trust-contracted security officers use body worn cameras. In some clinical areas such as our Emergency departments, other staff, including clinical staff, may also use body worn cameras. These cameras are not activated continuously. The cameras can switched on as required to film specific incidents such as violence or abusive behaviour.
