What we do
Our haemophilia and thrombosis centre care for people with bleeding and clotting conditions. This includes:
haemophilia
thrombosis
anti-coagulation.
Patient information
Emergency information for blood clots and bleeding disorders
If you have had a blood clot (Thrombosis patients)
If you are worried or have new symptoms relating to a blood clot, such as leg pain and swelling, please contact your GP to be referred to a clinic or go to A&E. If you are experiencing chest pains or shortness of breath, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E.
If you are on an anticoagulant, please go to A&E if you have sustained a head injury, major trauma or bleeding is not stopping despite initial first aid measures. If you sustain a minor injury, or nosebleed that lasts more than 15 minutes, contact 111 or go to your local minor injuries unit. If you have unexplained bruising, then please seek advice from your GP.

Out of hours emergency number for urgent clinical issues: 01227 783190. Ask for the operator and ask to speak to the consultant or registrar on call for haemophilia.

Where to find us
Our Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre is based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. It is a self-contained unit located behind car park 3. The entrance is just off this car park with a ramp for disabled access.
Inpatients
Adult patients with Haemophilia are usually admitted to Brabourne ward at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.
For paediatric patients, Padua or Rainbow Paediatric wards at the William Harvey Hospital and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital.
