Our trauma and orthopaedics service cares for people with injuries, fractures and long-term conditions of the musculoskeletal system.
The musculoskeletal system includes:
bones
joints
muscles
tendons
ligaments
other connective tissues.

joint replacement surgery
sports-related medicine
spinal surgery
trauma surgery for serious injuries
paediatric (children's) orthopaedics
elective procedures for chronic musculoskeletal conditions
rehabilitation for post-operative care.
About your appointment
To prepare for your appointment, please wear comfortable clothing and bring with you:
any supportive devices you use
any relevant medical records, medical history and imaging results
a list of current medications and allergies
any questions you'd like to ask
It's helpful to arrive early and consider having a family member or friend for support.
Where to find us
Outpatients
Our outpatient appointments and procedures take place at:
Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury
William Harvey Hospital, Ashford
four community sites in Folkestone, Dover, Deal and Herne Bay.
Inpatients
Our inpatient and day surgery services take place at:
Our Orthopaedic Centre at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, which provides dedicated facilities for planned hip and knee surgery
How to use this service
Please speak to your GP, who can refer you to our service.
We aim to see all patients referred to us within 18 weeks of receiving the referral.
